Our Mission

The mission of Pittsburg’s economic development efforts is to encourage growth and prosperity in Pittsburg through:

• Retaining and expanding existing businesses
• Building a stronger workforce
• Promoting local entrepreneurship and innovation
• Attracting new businesses and investment

Economic development services are provided through contractual arrangements with the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and University Strategic Initiatives, a division of Pittsburg State University. While they continually coordinate their activities under the direction of city administration, the chamber primarily addresses the needs of existing businesses and workforce development, while University Strategic Initiatives focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship and new business.
