City of Pittsburg to host downtown strategic planning events

PITTSBURG, KS – The City of Pittsburg and Downtown Advisory Board along with Olsson Design Team will gather feedback from the community next week on the city’s Downtown Strategic Plan.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC:

Community members are invited to the Downtown Community Conversation on Thurs., May 30 from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Block22, 402 North Broadway, Pittsburg. This come-and-go open house event is open to everyone. City officials, Downtown Advisory Board members, and Olsson Design Team will be on-hand to answer questions, gather input on future developments, and their potential impact on the downtown district.

OPEN TO DOWNTOWN STAKEHOLDERS:

Downtown business owners, property owners, and volunteers are invited to participate in the Downtown Pittsburg Planning & Design Charrette at Block22. This planning workshop includes two sessions, Wed., May 29 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and Thurs., May 30 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. Topics for the charrette include parking, aesthetics, safety, walkability, events and attractions, business development, Pittsburg State University, public transit, historic rehabilitation, maintenance, and more. VIRTUAL OPTION:

Those unable to attend in person may participate in the virtual open house, which will be posted to city’s website and social media starting Wednesday, June 5. The virtual open house will be available until June 19.
