City seeks volunteers for the Active Transportation Advisory Board

PITTSBURG, KS – The City of Pittsburg is accepting applications for two open positions on the Active Transportation Advisory Board (ATAB). The board is seeking one volunteer to represent the disability community and another to represent residents in the northeast quadrant of Pittsburg.
The appointee serving as disability representative will fill an unexpired term, which will expire on December 31, 2020. The representative chosen to serve the northeast quadrant will fill an unexpired term that ends on December 31, 2022.
ATAB has seven members, each serving four-year terms. Four board members are Pittsburg residents representing each quadrant divided by the intersection of 4th Street and Broadway. Three members reside within Crawford County and represent the healthcare industry, disability community, and a non-profit organization that promotes healthy lifestyles in the Pittsburg area.
Preference may be given to any applicant residing inside the Pittsburg city limits. Appointees are drawn from diverse segments of the public and shall be selected for their wisdom, broad perspective, and ability to assist in the planning and development of active transportation.
Meetings are held at City Hall on the first Tuesday of each month at 12:00 pm.
Applicants are invited to attend the February 25, 2020, Pittsburg City Commission Meeting (5:30 pm at the Law Enforcement Center, 201 N. Pine St. in Pittsburg). Appointments to the committee will be made by the City Commission during this meeting.
