PITTSBURG, KS – Crawford County Mental Health’s Mobile Same Day Access will be available May 15, 2024 in Pittsburg to provide onsite services. They will be setup in front of the Law Enforcement Center located at 201 North Pine Street from 12-2PM. Services will be available to everyone.
“In six outings with the RV thus far (split between Arma and Girard) we’ve completed five intakes. So just under one person served per outing,” Jason Southard, LSCSW stated. “By going out into the community we’ve helped five people that we might not have otherwise. It’s been a slow but encouraging start to Mobile SDA. If we help at least one person then it’s worth the effort.”
Southard is the Director of Same Day Access & Housing, and understands that a person could have apprehension about visiting them. He believes people just need to be heard.
“We’re here to meet people where they’re at. Through active listening, validation of feelings, and basic psychoeducation regarding services we work to educate people about what we can offer and provide help and support in whatever capacity we can. Sometimes, people just need to be and feel heard. Everyone matters. By believing and demonstrating that we’re often successful in helping those in need engage in services or connecting them to other appropriate community resources.”
