City of Pittsburg Receives ISO Upgrade

The City of Pittsburg recently received the results from the ISO (insurance Service Office) audit and was upgraded from a Class 3 to a Class 2. The ISO is the agency that establishes the rating system for fire protection which is used by insurance underwriters to establish insurance rates within communities. The last change in class for the Pittsburg Fire Department was 31-years ago when the classification was changed from a Class 4 to a Class 3.

This upgrade is the result of a combined effort within multiple departments, made possible by the Pittsburg voters through their support of the public safety sales tax. The scoring is broken down into three sections: Emergency Communications is 10%, Water Supply is 40%, and Fire Department Resources is 50%. The passing of the Public Safety Sales Tax in Pittsburg provided for improved dispatch capabilities and assisted the Fire Department in acquiring equipment and additional training. Furthermore, the City’s annual water line replacement program provides an enhanced and improved hydrant system throughout our jurisdiction.

Depending upon the insurance underwriter, there is the potential for financial benefit to our residents and businesses.
