For the third consecutive year, the City of Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department and Pittsburg State University ROTC are joining forces to host Just Another Mudder and Gorilla Dash at the Pittsburg State University Baja Course.
Just Another Mudder is one-mile youth adventure race for children five years of age and older. The race challenges kids to run, jump, and crawl through a mud-filled obstacle course. The PSU Gorilla Dash is an adult 5K endurance race, consisting of more than 20 obstacles, and is open to participants 14 years of age and older.
These events bring families together to race in support of two charitable causes. Proceeds from the Just Another Mudder race will benefit the Everybody Plays Playground at Pittsburg’s Schlanger Park. This universally-accessible playground is designed for children and families of all ages and abilities. The park has seen numerous updates, including an accessible playground, swings, relined pickle ball and basketball courts, the Ronald O. Thomas Dog Park and more. The next projects slated for the park include a butterfly garden, musical play space and shelter house.
Gorilla Dash proceeds will benefit the SFC Forrest Robertson Scholarship fund, which honors former PSU Military Science instructor and alumnus SFC Forrest Robertson, who lost his life in Afghanistan in November of 2013. This scholarship now provides much-needed assistance to current ROTC cadets attending Pittsburg State University.
Both races kick off at 9:00 am at the Pittsburg State University Baja Course. Just Another Mudder registration fee is $20. Gorilla Dash registration is $35 for individuals and $85 for teams of five people.
Preregistration is encouraged, but participants can still register to compete up until the day of the event. T-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrations.
