MEDIA RELEASE – Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft Arrest

PITTSBURG, KANSAS –

On Wednesday night, March 6, 2024, at approximately 9:20 PM, law enforcement officers from the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of E. 22nd St., in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of suspicious activity concerning a motor vehicle. Upon arrival officers met with 45-year-old Crystal D. Wyrick, of Pittsburg, and 40-year-old Corey E. Beaman, also of Pittsburg.

Officers found that Ms. Wyrick and Mr. Beaman had attempted to haul away a 1997 Chevy Blazer from the street, after having backed up their Ford F-150 pickup and trailer to the front of the Blazer. The owners of the Blazer witnessed Ms. Wyrick and Mr. Beaman attempting to steal their motor vehicle and contacted the police.

Ms. Wyrick and Mr. Beaman were taken into custody without incident, and during the subsequent search after arrest, items believed to be illegal drugs and related drug paraphernalia were located on Mr. Beaman. Additionally, Mr. Beaman held an active arrest warrant from Barton County, Missouri.

Ms. Wyrick and Mr. Beaman were transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. Ms. Wyrick was arrested for attempted felony theft and is currently being held in lieu of a $3,500.00 bond. Mr. Beaman was arrested for attempted felony theft, felony possession of illegal drugs, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and for the Barton County arrest warrant. Mr. Beaman is being held without bond.
