PITTSBURG, KANSAS –

On Saturday, April 22th, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; the Pittsburg Police Department will be a hosting site location for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  DEA with its other law enforcement partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.

For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications – those that are old, unwanted, or expired – that too often become a gateway to addiction.  Take Back Day has removed more than 8,300 tons of medication from circulation since its inception.

The Pittsburg Police Department is proud the be able to provide the community the ability to responsibility dispose of medication.  Anyone wishing to dispose of unwanted prescription medication is encouraged to bring them to the Pittsburg Police Department, located at 201 N. Pine St., Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This service is free of charge and individuals can remain anonymous. *Please keep sharps, needles, injectors and aerosol containers (inhalers) separate from other prescription medications. Due to their nature, these items will need to be disposed of separately. *
