Pittsburg Fire Department responds to structure fire at 611 West Forest

PITTSBURG, KS – On Friday, December 23, at approximately 6:16 am the Pittsburg Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 611 West Forest Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, the fire department reported flames could be seen rising from the roof of the two-story house. Firefighters immediately began an interior attack on the second floor, as the fire appeared to be in the attic.
A search confirmed that no occupants were inside the house. One occupant was present during the time of the fire and evacuated safely. American Red Cross was contacted on behalf of the resident.
Within 32 minutes, firefighters were able to control the fire and contain the damage to the second floor near the rear of the house. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The Pittsburg Fire Department, Pittsburg Police Department, Crawford County EMS, Kansas Gas Service, and Evergy responded to the scene. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
