Pittsburg Police Joins Neighbors by Ring
Police Department Press Release, City of Pittsburg
April 22, 2019
The Pittsburg Police Department is joining the Neighbors app by Ring to provide the Pittsburg community with real-time, local crime and safety information. The Neighbors network already has millions of users and has been instrumental in catching package thieves, stopping burglaries, and keeping neighborhoods safe.
Residents can download the free Neighbors app, join their neighborhood, and use the app to monitor neighborhood activity, share crime and safety-related videos, photos, and text-based posts, and receive real-time safety alerts from their neighbors, the Ring team and now the Pittsburg Police Department.
How it works:
- Download the Neighbors mobile application for iOS and Android using this link download.ring.com/pittsburg or by texting pittsburgpd to 555888 from your smartphone.
- Opt-in to join your neighborhood.
- Customize the geographic area you want to receive alerts for (users must verify their location and cannot participate in other neighborhoods).
- Receive real time alerts from your neighbors, the Pittsburg Police Department, and the Ring team.
- View local crime and safety posts via a live feed or interactive map.
The Pittsburg Police Department’s goal is to foster mutual trust and encourage everyone to engage in the safety and security of our community. We hope that with this feature available, it will allow officers to work with the community to keep our neighborhoods safer and more aware.
