Structure Fire on East Quincy – Quick Response Saves Resident’s Life

At 4:05 PM, December 30, 2024 Pittsburg Police Dispatch received a report of a structure fire on E Quincy Street. The caller advised she was still inside the residence. Pittsburg Police
Department and Pittsburg Fire Department were immediately dispatched to the scene, with Crawford County EMS also notified.

Pittsburg Police Officers were first to arrive and forced entry into the residence in an attempt to rescue the occupant. Shortly thereafter, Pittsburg Fire Department arrived and assumed search operations, successfully removing the victim from the structure.

The fire was swiftly contained to the room of origin and extinguished without any structural damage or fire spread. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene before being released.

The Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office was notified to investigate the fire. The fire remains under investigation at this time with no conclusive results to be immediately released.

Frontenac Fire Department, initially dispatched as mutual aid, was disregarded prior to arrival. MedFlight was also placed on standby but later stood down as the situation was under control.

This rapid and coordinated response highlights the dedication and efficiency of Pittsburg’s emergency services. We thank all responders for their swift actions and teamwork and for rising to the occasion when needed.
