Sidewalk Program
In 2017, Pittsburg residents voted to implement a sales tax to fund additional street repairs and to create a sidewalk improvement program. In 2020, Pittsburg residents voted to renew the sales tax for a period of ten (10) years allocating $100,000 each year for sidewalk repair. This program provides a 50-50 match for property owners who wish to build new sidewalks or repair existing ones.
If the sidewalk in front of your property needs repair or if you wish to construct a new one, we would be happy to assist you!
How it works:
- We will take measurements and provide a cost estimate
- Our contractor does the work, scheduling and coordination, and prepares the bid packet
- You can either pay for the improvements up front or we can work with you to add an assessment to your property taxes to cover your portion of the cost. We will then follow up with Crawford County to ensure your property taxes are collected appropriately.
- The assessment takes some time to process, as each assessment will go before the City Commission as a new project for approval
